Nutrisystem… Join Me on My Weight Loss Experience!

By  |

SO, I am about to embark on a journey with Nutrisystem.

A feel-better-and-lose-weight type of journey. So guess what? For the next 4 months I will be sharing with you how I will be achieving my goal weight. It’s scary!!

Let’s start off with some weight-related background…

All through high school I was thin – 116 to be exact! Maybe a little too thin but still, I was svelte, cute, and clothes fit well. Then when I started college I gained that typical “freshman 15” (well, 10), went to a comfortable and healthy 125ish. Still looked fabulous, felt great, ate right, and exercised regularly with dancing. I had all of the energy in the world – what 20 year old doesn’t have a ton of energy?

In 1995 I moved from Orange County, CA to San Jose with my (now) husband. Because we didn’t know anyone we didn’t go out to clubs and concerts like we used to. We got busy with work and I slowly crept up to about 140, which was what I weighed at our wedding in 1999. 140 is where I stayed for a long time. I was overall pretty happy, but just a bit plump for my tastes. But still happy.

My eating habits changed from healthy to fast and cheap. I was working 50-60 hours a week and fell into a routine of coffee and a muffin in the morning, something from the food court for lunch, and dinner was whatever was handy, be it fast food, take-out, or delivery. I simply didn’t have the time to really cook or think about what I was eating.

Before I moved to Portland in 2004 my weight jumped to 160, then back down to 135 simply because I stopped having time to eat at all. I was sustaining on coffee whatever was handy. When I did move to Portland I went back up to about 150 as we were getting comfortable and exploring our new environment. My job was pretty slow, so I wasn’t running around as much.

THEN my husband and I began seeing a fertility specialist and I started my hormone therapy in our quest to get pregnant. If any of you know anything about medications used when trying to get pregnant, you will know that a side effect is weight gain. When I did get pregnant with my twins it was via IVF and my weight was 163 when I got the positive test. Through my pregnancy I gained 35 lbs. I joked that the babies were living off of my fat since I was all belly.

After having the twins my weight quickly dropped back down to about 165. I had hoped I could lose even more but it just didn’t happen.

My arms got flabby, I went from a 36D to a 40D. My stomach? forget about it! But that all comes from being a mom, right?

And now here I am today..

This was my weight at of 8am, February 13, 2012.

I decided it was time to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

Currently I am the heaviest I have ever been (with the exception of when I was pregnant). And I feel constantly tired and not super great about myself. I’m self conscious,  nothing fits right, and I just feel.. BLAH.

So here is where it begins. Nutrisystem is coming to my rescue and in 4 months – 16 short weeks! – I will attain my goal weight of 150. That’s just 2 measly pounds a week. I can do this, and I am sharing my journey with you, my readers. Look for my Nutrisystem post every Monday.

It’s exciting, isn’t it??

Good luck! I’m in the same boat and my scale scares the shit out of me! 🙂 I’ve thought about Nutri System or Jenny Craig… just need to actually do it! I’ll be following for sure. You just might be my inspiration!
