ipsy Glam Bag – January 2018 Review
One subscription I have had for a long time? ipsy! It never seems to disappoint with the makeup and skincare goodies (plus the zip cosmetic bag is almost always a winner).
What is ipsy? This beauty subscription started in 2011 and features 5 products. You can tailor the items you get by logging into your account and selecting your preferences. When you get your bag you can review the items to get points for freebies and your bags are tailored even more to you. Best of all? It’s just $10 a month!
And now here’s my January 2018 ipsy Glam Bag and what I thought of it!
Whether you’re heading to kickboxing or kicking back with your crew, this little mesh pouch is a winner for showing off your sporty side.
I have to say – this bag is really cute in vintage ’80’s sort of way. The mesh is squishy, so I feel like it will give just a bit of protection for my smaller palettes. I adore the sporty racing stripe too!
CIATÉ LONDON Fierce Flicks Liquid Eyeliner
The precise felt tip makes getting symmetrical cat eyes super easy. They had us at long-wearing, but this formula also dries quickly and won’t smudge or transfer, no matter what your eye shape. The intense, inky black shade gives your eyes instant definition, and fills in all the little gaps between your lashes and your lashline.
It’s like ipsy was reading my mind.. I was thinking I need a new felt liner and this one doesn’t disappoint. I love how dark and pigmented it is. The only drawback? The tip is a little too soft for my tastes. I just don’t want it to split like other liners have. This liner sells for $19 at Sephora.
BEFINE SKIN CARE Exfoliating Cleanser
This scrub cleansed, refreshed, and left our skin feeling crazy smooth. We’re loving how the all-natural ingredients in this stuff are literally good enough to eat. (Brown sugar, almond, and oats sound like our typical weekday breakfast.) It’s really gentle and totally safe for all skin types.
The cleanser smells slightly of cookies. I am not kidding. It’s yummy… I was also super surprised about how much it foamed up, I am not used to exfoliators doing that. I would probably use this again. At about $20 or so for a 4oz tube it would last a while (this 1oz tube is going to give me a solid week!)
Sheet Mask Duo: Aloe Rescue & Pomegranate Crush Sheet Masks
Pamper your skin, help save the environment. These eco-friendly masks are 100% biodegradable. Aloe Rescue has phytocollagen, aloe vera extract, and Vitamin E to soothe and moisturize dry skin. Pomegranate Crush is loaded with antioxidant-packed pomegranate extract and vitamin E to hydrate, brighten, and smooth *all* skin types.
I tried the Pomegranate Crush mask and loooovvvved it. The mask smells divine and my skin is so soft and smooth! I did scare the kids a bit (it’s a sheet mask after all)… It stays put on your face until you take it off, no slipping and sliding. These cost about $4.99 each (grab 3 for $14.99 on Amazon) so it was a nice treat to get 2.
THEBALM COSMETICS Mary-Lou Manizer
The warm honey shade has just the right amount of shimmer to get us glowing. It’s gorgeous on your cheekbones, brow bones, and all the places you’d apply highlighter—but we love it on our lids, too. Animal lovers, it’s cruelty-free. Your pets will appreciate.
I have to say I just ADORE theBalm products and get so excited when one of those little books arrive in my ipsy bag. I have a few blush and eye shadow singles, so getting a highlighter was a nice change. I totally dig the shimmer in this one. Get a full size for $24 at thebalm.com.
SLMISSGLAM L36 Tapered Highlight Brush
This brush may be inspired by fairytales, unicorns, and mermaids, but it also means business. Not only does the tapered shape make applying your highlighter, bronzer, and contour super simple, but it can also be used with powder, liquid, and cream formulas. We’re really into the pretty pastel handle, which looks just as good in our kits as it does on our vanity table. This fluffy, synthetic bristled beauty is 100% cruelty-free.
Brushes seem to arrive nearly monthly in my ipsy bag. Totally not complaining! SLMISSGLAM is surprisingly pricey, this highlight brush is in a kit for $325! As far as I can tell you can get it by itself for about $14 on Mercari, but the brand doesn’t sell it on its own. I love the size of this one and the bristles are nice and soft. Plus – omg it’s so pretty and sparkly!!
ipsy also has a great rewards system – share your goodies and review them on ipsy and you get points that you can use to get more fun products. Pretty cool!!
*I purchase ipsy monthly, but there are referral links in this post. All opinions are my own.
