DIY: Striped Glitter Letters Wall Decor
My daughter had a request. She wanted a place to put her hair bows so that she could find them easily. Fair enough, I said, and set forth to make her something cute that she would love. She loves glitter and LOVES the color pink (like mother like daughter! I thought a cute striped initial would be the perfect style for her!
You will need:
- Glitter in as many different colors as you’d like stripes. I LOVE ultra-fine glitter!
- Wood letter (or letters)
- Mod Podge (gloss)
- Wide paint brush or sponge applicator
- masking tape
- hanger for back
- OPTIONAL – ribbons
Start by placing one strip of tape on the letter as shown above.
Paint Mod Podge on the masked area.
Pour first color of glitter onto Mod Podge area, then shake off onto paper or into container.
Continue until entire letter is painted and glittered. Paint edges with Mod Podge and use a single color glitter. Let dry for at least 3 hours.
Once dry, mix 1 part water with 3 parts Mod Podge and paint over entire letter to seal glitter. Optional – while wet sprinkle a light dusting of iridescent glitter on top.
I used ribbons at the bottom of the letter to create a bow holder (attached with a staple gun), but you can also use the letter as is for an adorable wall hanging!
