BirchBox Beauty Subscription March 2018 Review
As part of my Subscription Box Review Series, I bring you Birchbox March 2018!
Birchbox is one of the more popular beauty subscription boxes and becoming a personal favorite of mine. Subscribing is $10 shipped making it one of the less expensive beauty boxes out there. But is it worth it?
Take a peek in nearly any makeup artist’s kit and you’ll spy a well-loved tube of this cult classic, also a fave of French women. Since we’re just as picky as the pros, you’d better believe we’re fans and not just for the way it makes our tired, fatigued complexions look healthy and plump, but also because of it’s many other uses. It doubles as a primer, a makeup remover, a post-shave soother, and baby cream. Who says beauty isn’t practical?
Omg. I love this. I love this so hard. I wake up in the mornings looking pretty ragged under the eyes and adding a little extra there just makes my foundation and concealer glide on and wakes me up. Getting more of this pronto! Retail $28
A bomb blowout needs a bomb prep spray. This lightweight formula is infused with sea buckthorn berry oil and works on both damp and dry hair to give you the perfect style, protecting, nourishing, smoothing, and volumizing hair. You can apply it to damp strands before blow-drying to provide heat protection, texture, and lift. It also serves as a light hold mist for dry hair and can facilitate restyling.
With my hair being wavy, textured, and processed I need all the help I can get. This little bottle is not quite a miracle, but it does help give a little bit of a beachy-kind of look to my locks. Still, it’s a very small bottle, I only got a couple of uses out of it with my long hair. Smells amazing though! Retail $25 for 6.7oz Spray
The idea of a peel might sound intimidating (especially if your skin gets easily irritated), but it’s an effective way to restore your complexion’s natural glow. This customer-favorite formula is acid-free, so it gently exfoliates and evens out tone and texture—all in just three minutes—without aggravating sensitive skin types. The unique gel uses pH-neutral proteins that bind to dead skin cells to form actual solids you can see. Rinse away to reveal a fresh complexion that’s softer, brighter, and more radiant.
Where has this been all my life? It’s so weird applying this to my face, starting to massage, and feel the little balls of dead skin form under my fingertips. Satisfying as heck. And my face looks glowy after using it. The bottle is small, but I am totally considering dropping $48 for 1.7oz, that’s how much I love it.
What if we told you that you could transform your creamiest, most moisturizing lipstick into a matte finish? It’s not magic, it’s this innovative product from Smashbox Cosmetics that lets you mattify any color in your collection with a few dabs of its soft, primer-like formula. Now you can wear your favorite shades two different ways, instantly doubling your lipstick options.
This is probably the product I was most disappointed in. The formula is very VERY much like their Photo Finish Primer, so much that when I compared the two I couldn’t tell the difference. It’s a silicone base, so slippery on the lips. BUT it takes kind of a lot to dab on to make the lipstick truly matte. And the formula seems to play nice with some lipstick brands and not others. Not a fan. $24
One of our biggest qualms about wearing lipstick on a daily basis is that we’d have to reapply constantly to keep it looking fresh. We’re happy to report that this trio features buildable formulas that deliver long-lasting, beautiful color with a semi-matte finish but glide on as easily and feel as comfortable as if they were creamy. Each of the shades can be worn subtle or striking depending on how deep you prefer your lip look to be and won’t look cakey if you do decide to add a few more strokes. Either way, it stays put throughout your sips, kisses, and blots, meaning minimal-to-no touch-ups are necessary.
I am surprised at how much I like this. I am not really a lipstick-type of girl, I prefer liquid lippies as opposed to the wax stick variety. The color is nice, the formula is wonderful. It blends well, last for a long time, and for a matte-ish finish not drying. Loves!
Overall with the exception of the Smashbox Insta-Matte I am LOVING this box. Every item is useful and great for me.
