Adventuring with Kids Throughout the Year
Adventuring with the kids
If you thought having kids puts an end to your energetic trips abroad, then think again! There are dozens of ways you can take your kids along with you on an adventure break, giving the whole family a vacation to remember. Here are four suggestions to whet your appetite for a fabulous adventure holiday with everyone on board.
Take to the slopes
There’s nothing kids love more than playing in the snow, and a family ski holiday is a great way to do this. Depending on when you travel, you can hire ski chalets at very affordable prices, and most resorts are geared up for families, with some even offering free child places. Book the kids into a ski class especially suited to their age and experience, then you’re free to join your own. Many resorts in countries like France and Austria offer ice-skating, bowling and cinemas as well as all the snow-based action, so no one will get bored at apres-ski time.
Marvel at the wildlife
Kids adore the wonderful world of animals, and taking an adventure vacation to see exotic species in their natural habitat is a wonderful way to enjoy them. Imagine getting up close to the ‘Big Five’ (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and cape buffalo) with your kids in countries like Kenya, with the equal draw of the coastline of beaches and warm seas to snorkel around Mombassa.
A life on the ocean waves
To give your kids a taste of life at sea, why not try a Caribbean sailing vacation? Experienced sailors can charter a yacht and simply take off to explore tropical islands independently. Or you might prefer the security of travelling with a flotilla or cruise, where you can meet other families, make new friends and enjoy the freedom of sailing with others around you.
Get off the beaten track
Get away from the crowds and venture into the tropical rainforest with a trekking holiday in Costa Rica. As well as experiencing the amazing diversity of wildlife in the forest, you can also try out such adrenalin-fuelled options as a zip-wire ride over the trees, white water rafting, mountain biking on the volcano slopes and horse riding on the unspoilt beach.
Kids have a natural zest for life that can certainly rival your own. So taking a little time to plan something that is truly out of the ordinary will give you a chance to make your vacation unforgettable, creating family memories that will last for years.
